Akon’s take on Man Perfume

Looking forward to add up to his array of successes, the music/entertainer mogul Akon ventured into creating his own perfume line. Konvict Fragances was named after his Grammy nominated album back in 2006. There’s nothing new with this move taken by artists to create product lines tagged along to them. This is even considered a good one-two-punch strategy when it comes to developing images; they create their own buzz that will likely be talked about, plus they earn the extra money. Let’s take a closer look to what Mr. Konvict has been up to.

Akon, nevertheless, was able to draw in people into his own brand of music. But when he announced that he was going to release these fragrances, the rapper has again created anticipation for his fans and the media as well. There was not that much follow up information heard of since he announced the move in the last quarter of 2009. Until just recently, March of 2010, entertainment articles popped out stating the release of the perfume line. The sudden exposition was quite synonymous to former charges filed against Mr. Konvict that caught everyone by surprise, but this time around this is in for a positive note.

The Akon Konvict scents, which has been initially launched for US market, includes both woman and man fragrance. The package is sold in 100 ml Eau de Parfum; two bottles of 50 ml each for $41.95. The packaging, donning accentuated handcuffs, was elegantly glazed in gold for the woman, and silver for the man perfume. Konvict Femme, the woman perfume, defines sexy and cool with fresh lemon and mandarin day scent and vanilla and almond night musk. Konvict Homme, the man perfume exemplifies the modern masculine with the aroma of sandal and cedar wood. Ten-percent (10%) of the proceeds were intended to raise funds that will go to Akon’s Konfidence Foundation, dedicated to increasing public awareness of the conditions in Africa.

Yet on the contrary, new documents came out stating that there was no full consent of the singer-songwriter to release the product after all. This is something that is being look at as what might be the cause for the sudden release of the man perfume line in the market. It is said that to his dismay, he now demands that all production of the scent be stopped. Instead of directly answering the allegations of by-pass, the manufacturer just issued a statement that they are excited and do look forward for strong market performance; no clarity was expressed in the end.

Wherever this leads to, this just proves that Akon has already poised himself as one of the prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
